If you have the offending device and can easily repro the issue, work with the vendor. Look in the Windows event log if it shows anything relevant.

WebAug 17, 2015 · Basically I have one thread reading characters from standard input (in the real app this is a while(1) loop) and another thread that takes care of terminates the application. So the terminating thread calls CancelSynchronousIo() using the thread ID from the main thread, which should unblock the ReadFile() call.
